Notice: 

As of July 1, 2026, the state funded Zip Books program ended, which led to many libraries throughout the state ending their Zip Books programs. 

In order to continue the program and best utilize Zip Books funds set aside by the Beaumont Library District, effective immediately, we are modifying our Zip Books program criteria as follows:

• Allowing a maximum of one (1) Zip Books request per month, and;
• Limiting requests to only Teen and Adult library card holders.

We appreciate your understanding.

What is Zip Books?

Zip Books is a patron centered book ordering program that allows library card holders to order books that they would like to read but are currently not in the library's collection.

While most books are eligible for Zip requests, they must must meet the criteria listed below:

• available in print;
• an item not already owned by the library;
• available to be delivered via Amazon Prime;
• cost $25.00 or less before taxes ($50 or less if in a language other than English);
• published at least six (6) months ago;
• not a fillable book (a textbook, workbook, journal, or puzzle book);
• not out of print
• not a current bestseller (if in doubt, check the New York Times Bestseller list)
  • large print items are exempt from this requirement
• not a self-published book, and;
• not sold by a third-party vendor (sold by and shipped from Amazon only)

DVDS, music CDs, digital and physical audiobooks (e.g. mp3 or iTunes), workbooks, textbooks, prepublication items, ebooks (including Kindle books,) magazines, and multiple copies of the same title are not eligible to be requested through the Zip Books program.

Those requesting Zip Books must be teens or adults with a library account in good standing (no overdues, lost, or damaged items.)

While we expect to fulfill the vast majority of Zip Books requests, success is not guaranteed, nor is any title's addition to our collection. Approval will depend on available funds, the availability of the item,  and our evaluation of the title as being suitable for addition to the library's collection.

Please check Amazon's site beforehand to make sure the item is available. We will contact you if we are unable to fulfill the request or if it does not meet the criteria.

Orders are placed through Amazon and sent directly to your home mailing address. The Zip Books item will be checked out to your library account until they are returned to the library. 

Previous Zip Books must be returned before submitting another Zip Book request.

Unreturned Zip Books will be considered lost and the patron will be blocked from using the Zip Books program.

Patrons will be limited to one (1) Zip Books request per month. 

How Do I Return My Zip Book?

Please return Zip Books directly to library staff with the included slip during open hours.

Please fill out the form below as complete as possible. Please verify first if item can be purchased at Amazon.com, and place only one item request per submission. The Beaumont Library reserves the right not to add items to our collection based on our selection policy.
